Braves,
Our last week without a track meet this season was a fairly successful one, and we were able to put in some quality on the track, the roads, and the fields. Competition season is upon us so we have to make sure that we stay on top of our training and continue to improve as we begin the season. The first month of the season will be critical for our development in technique, fitness, strength, and speed. Come ready each day to get after it.
On Friday we held a time trial so we could get an idea of where we were at. The results of the trial say a variety of things and I want to reiterate what I said at the end of the time trial. I hope you remember your race(s) from Friday as we progress through the season. At the end of the year we will look back at that day we will see that we are different athletes, and a different team. The progress and improvement that we will see throughout the year is one of the most enjoyable aspects of being part of the track team. Let's continue to work together, support each other, and push each other so that we can be the best athletes and team that we can by May.
This week we will be issuing uniforms on Monday and Tuesday after practice, so don't leave without getting one. Uniforms can only be issued to athletes who have paid their fees - this can be done online at mydsd or in the office. Again, make sure you register at register my athlete and make sure you have a physical from this year. The paperwork for that can also be uploaded on to registermyathlete.
Thursday is our first meet, and it is a home meet. We will need the help of each athlete to make sure that the events run smoothly, and we hope each of you will get out and compete your best. More details will be given at practice about what to expect and what events we want you to do. We expect each team member to be at the meet until all the events have finished and we have cleaned up the facility. Plan on being there for the full time. These home meets are always fun and easy to run when everyone does their part.
We are very optimistic about what this team can do and we are excited for these upcoming two weeks leading up to spring break. Let me know if you have any questions.
Go Braves!
